I am from the small northern Ontario town of Cartier, near Sudbury. Having an avid outdoorsman as a father, I have fond memories of seeing a snowy owl along a path, glimpsing scenery from a canoe that very few others had seen, having berries described to me so that I could appreciate them visually, and in tea! I believe this is in part what inspires me with art today.
Oh, I have studied, got a degree and worked successfully in the private sector for over thirty years. During that time, I have been fortunate to have lived in several provinces and cities within Canada. I am now able to turn my full attention to artistic endeavors. Whether precise realism or an impression of what is there, my vision is to capture the light, the mood, the vibrancy. Having doodled, drawn, sketched, dabbled in pastels, acrylics, and other media, I have been pulled towards watercolour. I believe my style is still evolving and hope people will enjoy following my progress.
I am inspired by the transparency of watercolour and curious as to how certain artists can achieve the results they do. The way pigments mix and play on paper is truly remarkable. It is a challenge that inspires us (and me) to try different things and see how we can represent what we see.
Currently based in Ottawa, my inspirations come primarily from nature and my current and past experiences. I like to paint from local sites of interest, landscapes, florals from our garden, animals and more.
