I am a Canadian born oil painter currently based in Gatineau, Canada. My work can be seen in private collections in Europe, the Middle East, the United States, and Canada. In addition to studio work, I do commissions, several works of which are on public display in Canada.
I see life through a painter’s eyes. Painting is omnipresent in my life, one of which is not enough to capture what inspires me. As a former soldier, I have witnessed the majesty and wickedness of humanity. But still, I am enthralled by the human animal and its stubbornly consistent spirit, timelessly emotional conditions, and varied environments. My paintings build humbly on works of traditional painters laid down through millennium. I want to tell timeless stories with my pictures and leave them to the collective whole of works.
I am classically trained, having studied at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London, England and the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. I paint principally in oils in a contemporary representational style, although I am also an accomplished watercolour painter and skilled drawer. I am inspired by the traditional, technical skills, and compositions of past masters and great representational painters working today. I seek to make my pictures relevant to contemporary audiences in both style and subject. “Realism has been misunderstood through most of the twentieth century as an art of imitation,” but in the right hands, it can be a “powerful creative force.” I want the viewer to feel things that cannot be expressed in words.
I became a fulltime painter in 2021. A moto —”every day, in the paint.” Inspired by this, I deepen my knowledge and perfect my skills daily.
