Maggie Wesley is a 3-dimensional multi-media artist who utilizes found pieces in both her paintings and sculptures. Reusing resources highlights reinvention through creative transformation and serves as a starting point for composition, design and storytelling. Maggie’s hope is that the viewer will see something in her work that reminds them of their own past, allowing them to connect on both a personal and emotional level.
Maggie, who lives in Ottawa, studied Fine Art at Ontario College of Art where she fell in love with woodworking when learning to make stretcher frames for painting. She currently is focusing on subtractive techniques, using hand and power tools, to explore figurative sculpture that incorporate found objects. Maggie explored assemblage work in the past.
Post retirement from Nursing, Maggie has shown in numerous venues and Galleries in the Ottawa region. Her work is included in Collections by the cities of Ottawa and Nepean. Among the most recent art awards she has received was “Jurors Choice” at the National Capital Network of Sculptors show in 2024 for a piece now in a private collection.
