Glenn Bloodworth

Inspired by Hiroshi Sugimoto’s sense of ‘time exposed’ and transience, Walker Evan’s narrative optic, and the Düsseldorf School aesthetic of Thomas Struth and Candida Höfer, Glenn is a visual artist working with medium-format film and composite digital photography. He is particularly attracted by the dynamic of black & white.

A founder of the photographic collective Studio Zone V in 2011 and a member of the Foyer Gallery Artists Association since 2017, Glenn has an extensive exhibition chronicle of solo and group shows spanning 2012 to the present, with galleries in Ottawa, Toronto, and Los Angeles. His works are held in public and private collections in Canada and abroad, including the City of Ottawa’s Fine Art Collection. In 2020 he was invested as a Fellow of the Canadian Association for Photographic Art (FCAPA).

Post retirement from senior executive positions in the public and private sectors Glenn launched into visual art studies, graduating with Honours in 2008 in Algonquin College’s Photographic Techniques Program, & in 2015 with a Photographic Arts and Production Diploma from the School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa [SPAO]. In 2015 – 2016 he was an Artist-in-Residence at SPAO and at the Kingsbrae International Residency for the Arts in 2021. He actively pursues advanced professional studies with internationally noted fine art visual artists and printers.

Engaged in the Canadian arts community Glenn is a member of the Canadian Arts Representation/Le Font Des Artistes Canadiens [CARFAC] and Arts Network Ottawa, Past Chair of the RA Photo Club, and a past Chair, Board of Directors, SPAO. He s a member of the Executive Council and Treasurer for the Foyer Gallery Artists Association. He is also a member of the Canadian Association for Photographic Arts [CAPA], a member of its National Board of Directors, National Director of CAPA’s Judging Program, and Director of CAPA’s Ontario Zone. A Certified CAPA Judge since 2012 Glenn regularly judges photographic art exhibitions and competitions in Canada and internationally.
